She's branded him 'emotionally retarded', but Guy Ritchie has kept a dignified silence about his ex-wife Madonna. Until now... In the November issue of Esquire magazine, Guy Ritchie finally opens up about his feelings towards his ex-wife Madonna and confessed that he still loves her. But the 41-year-old also fired back at his ex-wife calling her "retarded" in response to the same remark she made about him. The subject of his ex came up when Guy left journalist Tom Chiarella alone in his London home for 20 minutes while he ran errands.
The reporter looked through his iPod and found no Madonna tunes on it. Asked about Madonna, Guy said: 'She's a manifester, if there ever was one. First-rate manifester.
Madonna makes things happen.' "And, of course, here you go: I still love her," he said and then quickly added, "But she's retarded, too." The pair share custody of their sons Rocco, nine, and adopted David Banda, four.
Madonna and Ritchie married at Skibo Castle in Dornoch, Scotland, on December 22, 2000. As well as their son Rocco and David, the 51-year-old Queen of Pop also has a 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes, with fitness instructor Carlos Leon, and this summer adopted three-year-old daughter Mercy James. The divorce has also affected her badly, as was made clear when she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman in the U.S. last week.
Asked by the host if she'd ever wed again, the singer replied: 'I think I'd rather get run over by a train.' On his upcoming movie Sherlock Holmes: "Holmes was a gentleman, but he was also a street guy who could scruff it up a bit. I thought the story had lost that part of its essence," Ritchie says.
"I like street life, but I like grand things, too. Being able to move within those two worlds appealed to me. Besides, he was the West's first martial artist.
On his divorce to Madonna: "You can't tell someone when they're getting divorced that their pain is an illusion.
I'm fucking telling you, I feel it, I've been through that.
You have, too. No one can say you don't feel that.
On how Madonna was treated at his London pub, the Punch Bowl: "Madonna, when she came in here, it was old-school London."No one bothered her. 'Hello, darling.
How are you, darling?
What can we get you?' It was fundamental, old-school.
It didn't matter who she was. She was my wife."
