Best Known As: Author - Fiction Gist: Neil Richard Gaiman () (born 10 November 1960) is an English author of science fiction and fantasy short stories and novels, graphic novels, comics, and films. His notable works include The Sandman comic series, Stardust, American Gods, Coraline, and The Graveyard Book. Gaiman's writing has won numerous awards, including the Hugo, Nebula, and Bram Stoker awards, as well as the 2009 Newbery Medal. The extreme enthusiasm of his fans has led some to call him a "rock star" of the literary world. He lives near Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, in an "Addams Family house". "I thought," says Gaiman, "you know, if I'm going to leave England and go to America, I want one of those things that only America can provide and one of those things is Addams Family houses." He is divorced with three children: Michael, Holly, and Madeleine. Their mother is Mary McGrath. In June 2009, during the Q&A at an AIDS fundraising event they were doing together, the songwriter and performer Amanda Palmer (best known for her band, The Dresden Dolls, and her debut solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer) and Gaiman stated that they were dating. read more about Neil Gaiman
